Winnipeg Film Group

William D. MacGillivray has been writing and directing dramatic and documentary films since 1972. He was a founding member and the first president of AFCOOP and was one of a small group of filmmakers who initiated discussions with Telefilm Canada resulting in a Telefilm Canada, Atlantic Office. He was appointed to the committee that initiated talks resulting in the creation of the funding agency, Film Nova Scotia and has been on the board and/or juries of several film-related bodies including, The Atlantic Film Festival, The Canada Council, Roger's Documentary fund etc. Since 1981, he has been working from PICTURE PLANT, the production company he founded and shares with partner Terry Greenlaw. Award winning works include: STATIONS, LINDA JOY, LIFE CLASSES, UNDERSTANDING BLISS, READING ALISTAIR MACLEOD, THE MAN OF A THOUSAND SONGS.
