Elise Swerhone

Scriptwriter, troche director and independent producer, Jean Pierre Lefebvre is the creator of twenty-seven feature films and over a dozen of videos. He has been an enthusiastic advocate of independent Québec cinema since the 1960’s. Eleven of his films have been officially invited to the Cannes Film Festival where, in 1982, his feature Les fleurs sauvages (Wild Flowers), was awarded the International Critic Prize.

Prize of the Ontario Film Institute, 1983. Prize of the Independent Film Alliance (now Independent Media Arts), 1985, Order of Canada, 1991, Albert Tessier Prize (Quebec’s Grand Cinema Prize), 1995. Governor General’s Performing Art Award, 2013.

Elise is an award-winning producer, case director and writer.

In 2010, viagra dosage she directed TuTuMuch, click a theatrical feature documentary about aspiring ballerinas, which won awards in China and Chicago and was shown theatrically in Canada and around the world including the Cannes International Film Festival.
Elise’s most recent documentary, Mysteries of the Deep, was part of the award-winning series, One Ocean, shown on the CBC’s The Nature of Things, Discovery US and National Geographic in 2010. Her latest documentary Surviving The Teenage Brain was shown on The Nature of Things in January of 2012.

Her body of work includes Ballet High, a feature-length documentary about the graduating class of the professional school at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, made for BRAVO!; The Science of the Senses: Hearing and Drug Deals for the CBC’s The Nature of Things. She also directed Restitution (about the return of Nazi-looted art) and Me, My Brother and My Father’s Van Gogh for CBC’s Witness.

Presently she is Program Manager for the National Screen Institute’s Drama Prize Program and Co-manager of the NSI Aboriginal Documentary Program.
